A full paver plaza laid around the sundial monument, with the coursing run to the curve rather than cut square against it. The kind of campus work that has to survive twenty winters of freeze and thaw and still sit flat.

The planting bed that frames the monument sign on East State. A restaurant's sign is read from a moving car, so the bed is planted low and wide and kept clear of the lettering.

A commercial wall built with its drainage channel in the same operation. On Rockford's heavy clay the water has to be given somewhere to go before the wall goes up, not after it starts to lean.

It is the single most-asked-about thing on this list, and it is worth asking about early: palms are placed as part of the planting plan, not dropped in at the end.
